Press Release Body = Customersatisfaction.com Says Expired Coupons Can Still Save
You Money!

Customersatisfaction.com's President, Dr. Gary S. Goodman isn't one to take "no" for
an answer very agreeably, especially if it seems groundless or simply a way of
enforcing a silly deadline or a punitive, anti-customer rule.

So, when he tendered his "10% off the total purchase" coupon at the supermarket, and
the clerk said, "I can't accept this; it has expired,"
Goodman was more than miffed.

He was motivated.

Quickly, he surveyed the scene and took the measure of her mood. She was a steely
eyed clerk reminiscent of a grade school librarian insistent on collecting a ten
cent late charge.

So, instead of asking HER to make an exception, which was certain to be declined, he
appealed to a higher authority: the computer.

"Can we do a little experiment?" he asked, beaming with optimism. "Let's run the
coupon through the scanner and see if it accepts it!"

She hesitated, but only momentarily, realizing that if the scanner accepted the
coupon she wasn't giving away the store's money.

"It was win-win for her," Goodman says. "If the scanner declined my coupon, I
couldn't blame her, so she was off the hook, no matter what!"

Bingo!

The computer credited Goodman more than seven dollars on his purchase and he walked
away happy and understanding more about how coupons can pay off.

"Consumers should try this gambit," Goodman recommends. "Instead of silently tearing
up the discounts because we see the expiration date has come and gone, we should
confidently present them to cashiers."

Banking on the fact that the bar codes on coupons haven't been programmed to expire,
Goodman believes consumers can collectively save millions on their purchases every
year, simply by saying, "Let the scanner decide!"
